Guyana to Host Largest Regional Building Expo 2024

Housing Minister Collin Croal

Guyana is gearing up to host the region’s largest International Building Exposition 2024, offering a prime opportunity to delve into the latest innovations within the housing and construction sectors.

At the expo’s official launch, Minister Collin Croal emphasized its pivotal role as a platform for government officials and industry leaders to explore cutting-edge solutions, aiming to redefine housing standards in Guyana and serve as a beacon for the Caribbean and South America.

Set to take place from August 8-11, 2024, at the National Stadium in Providence, the expo themed ‘Building on the Foundation of Sustainability and Unity’ will convene homeowners, potential buyers, and businesses from diverse sectors, including construction and manufacturing.

Minister Croal underscored the significance of sustainable materials at affordable rates, urging both local and international suppliers to actively participate and showcase their offerings.

Last year’s expo unveiled groundbreaking technologies like 3D printing for houses, solar advancements, and eco-friendly building materials. Access to sustainable housing remains a paramount concern for the government, with significant strides already made in providing over 1,067 houses to new homeowners and nearing completion on an additional 1,500.

Encouraging broad engagement, Minister Croal appealed to the diplomatic community to bring delegations from their respective countries, revealing that over 20 companies have already signed up for the expo.

Minister Susan Rodrigues highlighted Guyana’s ambitious Silica City project, focusing on low-carbon, climate-resilient urban development. This year’s expo will spotlight the ‘Dream Realised’ house lot allocation and title distribution, benefiting thousands of Guyanese.

Beyond its showcase of innovation, the expo serves as a launchpad for entrepreneurs to debut new ventures and expand existing ones. With an anticipated attendance of around 500 exhibitors and corporate sponsors, the event fosters invaluable networking opportunities and strengthens collaboration between the government and private sector.

Chairman Komal Singh of the Private Sector Commission praised the expo’s role in creating an enabling environment for private sector growth, expressing appreciation for the government’s partnership and affirming continued investment in the economy.
