The event, chaired by Ivan Dawns and Sean Blake, alongside Anthony Henry from the Walnut Foundation, on June 1st 2024, is dedicated to raising awareness about prostate cancer and improving men’s health outcomes.
The collaboration between the Carpenters and Allied Workers Local 27, represented by Sean Blake, and the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades, led by Ivan Dawns, exemplifies a unified effort to support not only their members but the broader community. The event will take place on Brampton’s magnificent Etobicoke Creek Trail located at 30 Loafers Lake Lane in Brampton; this walking trail, promises a scenic and meaningful experience.

Prostate cancer remains a leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men, with Black men facing a significantly higher risk compared to non-Black men. The Walnut Foundation is committed to addressing this disparity by raising funds for awareness programs, support groups, and research. Additionally, the foundation supports scholarships for Black medical students at the University of Toronto, fostering future healthcare leaders.
To contribute to this cause, donations can be made directly through the provided link. Participants can also join “Team Henry” or register their own teams for fundraising efforts. Every contribution helps increase awareness, facilitate early detection, and improve health outcomes for men, particularly within the Black community.
Join Ivan Dawns, Sean Blake, Anthony Henry, and the Walnut Foundation on June 1st for the Walkathon. Your participation and support can make a significant difference in the fight against prostate cancer and in promoting better men’s health. Together, we can save lives and create a healthier future.
